Summary Explanation/Background

THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE RISK MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL ON THE ABOVE MOTION.

 

At approximately 12:14 p.m. on May 12, 2021, the SW 4th Avenue Bridge partially closed on the Claimant’s 150-foot vessel that was under tow by Cape Ann Towing going under the bridge outbound on the New River.

 

Through negotiations with the Claimant’s attorney, a settlement was reached in the total amount of $200,000. The County Administrator and the County Attorney are both in agreement with the settlement in order to mitigate future financial exposure to the County.
