MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of Public Hearing to be held on May 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 422 of Governmental Center East to consider enactment of a proposed Ordinance, the title of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO THE BROWARD REGIONAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ("EMS") COUNCIL; AMENDING SECTION 15-74 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES ("CODE"); RELATING TO COUNTY COMMISSIONER REPRESENTATION ON THE EMS COUNCIL; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background
Chapter 15 of the Code establishes the membership composition of the Broward Regional Emergency Medical Services ("EMS") Council, which currently includes representatives of medical, fire rescue, hospital, emergency management, and other community stakeholder entities, as well as a County Commissioner.
The proposed Ordinance, if enacted, would amend Chapter 15 of the Code to add an alternate County Commissioner, nominated by the Mayor, to serve on the EMS Council. The alternate County Commissioner may attend the meetings but would not be counted toward a quorum or vote except when serving in place of the designated County Commissioner.
