Summary Explanation/Background

On February 11, 2025, the State of Florida Auditor General notified Broward County that the Auditor General’s Office would be conducting a statutorily required audit of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and requested the Mayor execute an engagement letter setting forth the legal authorities for the audit (Exhibit 1). Under Broward County regulations, Board approval is required to authorize the Mayor to execute the referenced engagement letter.

This item, if approved, would approve the proposed engagement letter and authorize the Mayor to execute same. In the interim, and due to the Auditor General’s request regarding timing, the Director of the Broward County Aviation Department (“BCAD”) has directed BCAD personnel to fully cooperate with and provide any and all requested information to the Auditor General.
