MOTION TO APPROVE Amendment to Participating Addendum between Safeware Inc., and Broward County (OPN2126972Q1_1) for public safety and emergency preparedness equipment and services for the Public Works and Environmental Services Department ("PWESD"), increasing the current three-year maximum contract amount from $500,000 by an additional $500,000, for a revised five-year maximum of $1,000,000.

Why Action is Necessary
In accordance with the Broward County Procurement Code, Section 21.47, Award and Execution Authority, the Board of County Commissioners' approval is required for threshold increases above the $500,000 award authority of the Director of Purchasing.
What Action Accomplishes
Provides additional funding to ensure continuity of equipment and parts necessary for the procurement, operations and management of flood sensor equipment, drones, and drone equipment for the PWESD and various County Agencies for the remainder of the agreement.

THE PUBLIC WORKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
On July 28, 2023, Broward County awarded a one-year, $300,000 contract to Safeware, Inc. (Contract No. OPN2126972Q1_1) to enable PWESD to purchase public safety and emergency preparedness equipment through the OMNIA Partners cooperative, using Fairfax County, Virginia Contract No. 4400008468, which was competitively solicited (Exhibit 1). Fairfax County later amended its contract to extend the term through September 30, 2028, under the same terms, conditions, and pricing (Exhibit 2).
