Summary Explanation/Background
During the 2024 Legislative Session, the Florida Legislature enacted Chapter 2024-80, Laws of Florida, which amended Section 218.077, Florida Statutes, effective September 30, 2026. As amended, Section 218.077 prohibits political subdivisions from imposing certain wage and employment benefit requirements through procurement and contracting procedures for contracts entered into on or after September 30, 2026, but allows those requirements to continue for contracts entered into prior to that date.
