Summary Explanation/Background
THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT, THE ACCOUNTING DIVISION, AND THE PUBLIC WORKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The Broward County Public Works and Environmental Services Department (PWESD) requests authorization for 11 employees to travel to Daytona Beach, Florida from April 14 - 16, 2026, to attend the 2026 Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Tank Inspector Training Conference (Exhibit 1).

The State has requested all PWESD Environmental Permitting Division (EPD) Storage Tank Facility inspectors to attend the mandatory conference to ensure compliance with the Compliance Verification Contract (Contract GC920). Attendance of this training is required so that the FDEP could effectively and efficiently maintain state-issued laptop equipment (Tough-pads), process associated paperwork, and complete new staff orientation.
