MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of Public Hearing to be held on September 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 422 of Governmental Center East to consider enactment of a proposed Ordinance, the title of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO LICENSES, BUSINESS REGULATIONS, AND CONSUMER PROTECTION, INCLUDING TOWING AND IMMOBILIZATION SERVICES, AUTO TAG COURIER SERVICES, MOVERS, APPLIANCE REPAIR, AND MOTOR VEHICLE REPAIR SHOPS; AMENDING CHAPTERS 81/2 AND 20 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES ("CODE"); AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background
This Ordinance would update the County's Consumer Protection Code, primarily with respect to towing.
On September 4, 2025, the Commission directed the County Attorney's Office to draft an Ordinance amending various sections of Chapters 81/2 and 20 of the Code relating to movers, towing and immobilization providers, motor vehicle repair shops, and motor vehicle body repair and painting shops.
Some of the changes pertaining to towing will align the Code with recent changes in Florida law. These include modified requirements that towing companies accept at least two forms of payment. Also...
