MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of Public Hearing to be held on August 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 422 of Governmental Center East to consider enactment of a proposed Ordinance, the title of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO THE DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIP ORDINANCE, THE PREVAILING WAGE ORDINANCE, AND THE LIVING WAGE ORDINANCE; AMENDING SECTIONS 161/2-157, 26-5, AND 26-102 THROUGH 26-104 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES ("CODE") TO COMPLY WITH SECTION 218.077, FLORIDA STATUTES; REPEALING THE LIVING WAGE ADVISORY BOARD AND SECTION 26-105 OF THE CODE; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background
During the 2024 Legislative Session, the Florida Legislature enacted Chapter 2024-80, Laws of Florida, which amended Section 218.077, Florida Statutes, effective September 30, 2026. As amended, Section 218.077 prohibits political subdivisions from imposing certain wage and employment benefit requirements through procurement and contracting procedures for contracts entered into on or after September 30, 2026, but allows those requirements to continue for contracts entered into prior to that date.
