Summary Explanation/Background
The proposed Ordinance, if enacted, modifies the model year and mileage requirements applicable to wheelchair accessible taxicabs operating within Broward County.

Currently, taxicabs are subject to model year and mileage limitations under the Code. Taxicabs must be (a) no more than ten (10) model years old, or (b) no more than fifteen (15) model years old with an odometer reading of less than one hundred fifty thousand (150,000) miles. The proposed Ordinance would allow a taxicab with a certificate to operate as a wheelchair accessible vehicle to continue operating until the vehicle is fifteen (15) model years old, regardless of mileage, while continuing to require compliance with all applicable inspection requirements and minimum vehicle standards.
