Why Action is Necessary
In accordance with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and County policies, a public hearing is required to receive public input on the Fiscal Year 2026 Transit Capital Program of Projects (POP). A POP is a list of projects that includes a brief description of the projects, total project costs, local share, and federal share for each project and the statutory provisions of 49 U.S.C. Chapter 53 require that the County as a designated recipient of FTA funds provide an opportunity for a public hearing to obtain the views of the public on the proposed POP.

THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

This item supports the Board's Connected Community and Accountable Government Goals.

In compliance with federal regulations, this Public Hearing will allow public participation and comment on Broward County Transportation Department's Fiscal Year 2026 Transit Capital Program of Projects.

Broward County receives annual federal financial assistance from the US. Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Urbanized Area Formula Program (49 U.S.C. 5307) and its Buses and Bus Facilities program (49 U.S.C. 5339) as a designated recipient.
