Summary Explanation/Background
During the Board workshop on October 22, 2024, County staff presented possible locations for pallet shelter communities to provide temporary housing for individuals and families in Broward County experiencing homelessness (Exhibit 1). The Board also inquired as to the number of pallet shelters required to accommodate the number of persons reasonably expected to be willing to accept pallet shelter as a temporary accommodation in lieu of homelessness.

This item permits Board discussion of the locations identified by County Administration for possible pallet shelter sites, the site(s) recommended by County Administration, and the projected cost to acquire and maintain an appropriate number of such shelters. Based upon that information, the Board can then direct the County Administrator and authorize the actions necessary to implement that dire...
