MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of Public Hearing to be held on January 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 422 of Governmental Center East to consider enactment of a proposed Ordinance, the title of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO THE BROWARD REGIONAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ("EMS") COUNCIL; AMENDING ARTICLE V OF CHAPTER 15 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES ("CODE"); PROVIDING FOR INCLUSION OF A COUNTY COMMISSIONER ON THE EMS COUNCIL; CLARIFYING RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EMS REVIEW COMMITTEE; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background
Chapter 15 of the Code establishes the membership composition of the Broward Regional Emergency Medical Services ("EMS") Council, which currently includes representatives of medical, fire rescue, hospital, emergency management, and other community stakeholder entities.
The proposed Ordinance, if enacted, would amend Chapter 15 of the Code to add a County Commissioner, nominated by the Mayor, as a member of the EMS Council. The County Commissioner will be exempt from the attendance, removal, and reappointment provisions in Section 1-233 of the Code.
