MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of Public Hearing to be held on October 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 422 of Governmental Center East to consider enactment of a proposed Ordinance, the title of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO CERTAIN COUNTY ADVISORY BOARDS; REPEALING ARTICLE VII, INCLUDING SECTIONS 1-116 THROUGH 1-121, AND ARTICLE IX, INCLUDING SECTIONS 1-155 THROUGH 1-160, OF CHAPTER 1 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES (“CODE”); AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Senate Bill 1134 (2026) prohibits counties from funding or promoting, directly or indirectly, or taking any official action relating to the promotion or adoption of training, programming, or activities designed or implemented with reference to race, color, sex, ethnicity, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Senate Bill 1134 takes effect January 1, 2027, and—as currently construed based on the limited guidance available to date—would preclude the continuation of two advisory boards: the Racial Equity Task Force; and the Status on the Commission of Women.
