Summary Explanation/Background
THE PORT EVERGLADES DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL.
This action supports the Broward County Board of County Commissioners' ("Board") Value of "Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives," and the Goal of "Ensuring economic opportunities and a sustainable economy, with an emphasis on Broward's lower and middle class."
Resolve Fire and Hazard Response, Inc. ("Resolve") has been a tenant at Port Everglades operating a maritime firefighting and rescue training facility since 1994. On April 6, 2021 (Item No. 14), the Board approved the most recent lease agreement for a parcel of land in Midport at Port Everglades (See Exhibit 2) for the facility. The facility serves U.S. and foreign merchant mariners, cruise line personnel, Broward Sheriff's Office ("BSO") Fire Rescue Station No. 6 personnel, and other eligible trainees.
