MOTION TO ENACT Ordinance, the title of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO THE ZONING CODE; CREATING, REPEALING, AND AMENDING VARIOUS SECTIONS OF CHAPTER 39 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES ("CODE"), RELATED TO DIGITAL MAPS, COMMUNITY RESIDENTIAL HOMES, ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES, ADMINISTRATIVE SETBACK WAIVERS, ZONING VERIFICATION LETTERS, AND GENERAL UPDATING AMENDMENTS; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background
Chapter 39 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances ("Zoning Code") is maintained digitally through the Municipal Code Corporation. However, Section 39-11 of the Zoning Code still requires staff to have paper zoning maps on file for public use. For several years zoning data had been made accessible, through the Urban Planning Division's webpage, in an easy-to-search format for property owners and developers. The proposed Ordinance would discontinue the paper zoning maps.
Multiple sections of the Zoning Code define and regulate community residential homes and assisted living facilities. The proposed Ordinance updates these sections to be consistent with site selection requirements of Section 419.001, Florida Statutes.
