Summary Explanation/Background

THE PARKS AND RECREATION DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The First Amendment to License and Concession Agreement (First Amendment) between Broward County and Florida Renaissance Festival, Inc. (RENFEST) expands the types of alcoholic beverages to include liquor that RENFEST is permitted to sell and serve during the annual Florida Renaissance Festival at Quiet Waters Park, and increases the annual event fee that RENFEST will pay the County, from $1.10 to $1.14 plus applicable taxes, for each admission or complimentary ticket collected or redeemed by RENFEST. The increased fee is projected to increase revenue to the County by $11,420 over the remainder of the term of the Agreement.

The original Agreement was approved by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners at the August 22, 2017, Regular Meeting, Item 41B. The Agreement’s term began on date of full execution and ends at the conclusion of the Year 2022 event. The Agreement includes provision for a renewal by the Board for up to five years. The First Amendment does not alter the Agreement term. The Agreement may be terminated for convenience by the Board by providing 15 months written notice to RENFEST.

The Office of the County Attorney has reviewed and approved the First Amendment to the Agreement for legal sufficiency.
