Summary Explanation/Background

THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND BROWARD ADDICTION RECOVERY DIVISION (BARC) RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTIONS.

These actions support the Commission value of “approaching human services collaboratively and compassionately with special emphasis on the most vulnerable,” and the goal to “deliver evidence-based services to the public and connect customers and their family members to sustainable support with special emphasis on financial supports.”

Funding is provided by the Florida Department of Children and Families (“DCF”) through its contract with BBHC. Contract No. 34346-19 (“Contract”) between BBHC and Broward County facilitates the provision of community-based substance abuse and mental health services to eligible adult residents served by BARC. Under the Contract, BARC provides multiple services, including screening, comprehensive assessment, case management, coordination of resources, and peer recovery support to adults with mental health disorders. The state Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Contract outcomes are being met.

This First Amendment increases the Contract amount based on the prior year's utilization of grant funds.

This First Amendment has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney and it is in BBHC's format, thus BBHC will sign last following approval by the Commission.
