Summary Explanation/Background
THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action approves the First Amendment to the Agreement between the County and GO Shuttle for Shared Ride Services at FLL to reduce the amount of the required motor vehicle liability limits.
The County and GO Shuttle entered into an Agreement for Shared Ride and Limousine Concession Services at FLL (RFP # 2018-06-05-0-AV-03) effective on December 4, 2018 (“Agreement”). The term of the Agreement commenced on January 1, 2019, with a termination date three years thereafter, unless extended or otherwise terminated as provide in the Agreement. The County has the option to extend the Agreement for two additional successive one-year terms.
GO Shuttle indicated to Broward County Aviation Department and Risk Management staff that it has been unable to obtain motor vehicle liability insurance in the level required in the Agreement. GO Shuttle has represented that no company would give them a quote for coverage, and as a result has requested that the limits be reduced from $1,000,000 for each occurrence to $500,000 for each occurrence for nine person passenger vans and $125,000/$250,000/$50,000 for sedans. GO Shuttle will continue to pay a Trip Fee of $4.50, as per the Agreement, at rates set by the County.
The proposed First Amendment has been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney’s Office.
