This action supports the Board’s value encouraging investments in renewable energy, sustainable practices and environmental protection: Goal 1: Seek funding for, implement policies and pursue projects promoting the use of alternative energy, resource conservation, sustainable practices and environmental protection. Resource conservation and environmental protection is achieved by funding a tree planting project.

The City of Tamarac (City) has submitted a request for funding from Tree Preservation Trust Fund for the purchase and installation of 22 trees at the City owned Colony West Golf Course. The City will provide for the future maintenance of the trees. The Tree Preservation Trust Fund currently contains approximately $17,376 intended for use within the City. The funds were collected from contributions in lieu of tree replacement for Tree Removal Licenses issued within the City of Tamarac.

The Tree Preservation Trust Fund Committee has reviewed and approved this request. Funds will be paid to the City on a reimbursement basis pursuant to the attached agreement (Exhibit 2). The agreement has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
