Summary Explanation/Background

This item supports the Commission value of “Consistently delivering responsive, efficient, quality services to the public and internal customers.”

At its May 7, 2019 Regular Meeting (Item No. 76), the County approved an Interlocal Agreement ("ILA") with the City of Fort Lauderdale for the development of the JGCC.

The ILA established the Board and the City Commission as the Unified Direct Procurement Authority (UDPA) in connection with the development of the JGCC.

On October 15, 2019, the UDPA held an evaluation meeting for Request for Qualifications (RFQ) No. PNC2119087R1 and heard presentations from four firms. The UDPA named Zyscovich, Inc. as the first-ranked firm and directed that County and City staff commence negotiations with Zyscovich, Inc.

At the December 10, 2019 Regular Meeting (Item No. 66) the Board awarded a deliberately phased Agreement with Zyscovich Inc. for the services of a professional architecture firm to lead a multidisciplinary team to provide the planning services, including programming and needs assessment, for the creation of a DCP for the JGCC.

County and City staff have been working with the Zyscovich team on the programming and needs assessment phases of the DCP.  Staff will provide a brief update on the project schedule (Exhibit 1) and results to date, and share policy questions (Exhibit 2) that staff needs Board input on.
