Summary Explanation/Background
On March 20, 2020, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 20-69, waiving the requirement that a quorum of local government board members be physically present at a specific location for public meetings during the COVID-19 emergency. The purpose of the order was to allow Broward County boards and committees to continue holding public meetings and conducting public business and permit public participation electronically rather than in person, thereby reducing a risk of transmitting the virus that causes COVID-19.
This item, if approved, would adopt rules for allowing public participation in public meetings of Broward County boards and committees during the current state of emergency.
