Why Action is Necessary
In accordance with the Broward County Procurement Code, Section 21.54.c the Board is required to approve all standardizations over the award authority of the Director of Purchasing, and Section 21.43, the Board is required to approve all contracts for supplies or services of more than five years.

What Action Accomplishes
This action allows continuation of the County's successful codification of Ordinances and Resolutions.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT/RECORDS, TAXES AND TREASURY DIVISION AND THE PURCHASING DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The purpose of this action is to approve Municipal Codification Corporation (MCC) as a sole source standardization in excess of five years to the Board. MCC codifies individual Broward County Ordinances and specified Resolutions as they are approved by the Board to which they update the Broward County Code of Ordinances and Administrative Code. MCC also furnishes the County with electronic and hard copy supplements of the Code of Ordinances, Administrative Code, and Broward County Commission Meeting Minutes.

MCC specializes in Florida law and has been the codification vendor for the County since 1972. In 2012, MCC updated their hosting infrastructure to include backup services for continuity of operations at an alternate hosting facility, which provides greater uptime for its online services customers.
