Summary Explanation/Background

The general purpose of the HAVA grant is to improve the administration of federal elections. The Supervisor of Election’s Office plans to use the 2020 award for the continuation of cybersecurity and improvements in preparation for the 2020 Presidential Election. The total award for the 2020 HAVA election administration activities grant is $51,901. Of this amount, the Federal portion is $45,131. The County has agreed to a $6,770 match.

 

Funds in the amount of $2,321,000 are transferred from reserves in response to the Supervisor of Elections letters to the County on April 10 and 30. As discussed on the April 21st Commission Meeting in response to the April 10 letter these funds are intended to be used to address anticipated impacts on the Supervisor of Elections operations resulting from the COVID pandemic.
