Summary Explanation/Background

THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND GROWTH MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

In 2019, the Board adopted BrowardNEXT 2.0, including the Deepwater Port Component, consistent with the requirements of Chapter 163, Part II, Florida Statutes. Policies in this Component address existing and future environmental, economic, transportation and land use impacts of Port Everglades.

On June 16, 2020 (Item 70), the Board adopted the Port Everglades Master/Vision Plan update. Accordingly, the Deepwater Port Component requires an update to account for future conditions anticipated in the planning horizon extending to 2038.
