Summary Explanation/Background
The proposed Ordinance amends various sections of Chapter 39 of the Code (the "Zoning Code") to update and clarify existing definitions and provisions related to site plans and surveys; nonconforming uses, buildings, and structures; heights of buildings and structures; landscaping, signage, setback, and offstreet parking requirements; and procedures for rezonings and amendments to development orders related to developments of regional impact. Additionally, storm and hurricane protection regulations of the Florida Building Code are incorporated into the Zoning Code, and provisions are created to regulate play equipment, basketball hoops and backboards, game courts, and outdoor grilling equipment. The proposed Ordinance also amends Section 8½-16 of the Code to incorporate the amended and new provisions into the Schedule of Civil Penalties for which citations may be issued for violations.
