Summary Explanation/Background
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
Hillsboro Boulevard is a County road located in the City of Parkland. Parkland Bay Homeowners Association, Inc. and the City of Parkland desire to improve a portion of the County right-of-way in a roundabout at the intersection of Hillsboro Boulevard and Parkland Bay Drive.
The proposed improvements include landscaping, irrigation, sod, curb and gutters, pavement, pavement markings, and signage. The landscaping improvements shall incorporate a minimum 50% native species by plant types and shall follow the Broward County NatureScape program and Florida-Friendly Landscaping principles. The agreement will allow Parkland Bay Homeowners Association, Inc. and the City of Parkland to install the improvements within County right-of-way. Parkland Bay Homeowners Association, Inc. will be obligated to maintain these improvements. In the event that Parkland Bay Homeowners Association, Inc. fails to maintain the improvements, the City of Parkland is obligated to perform the maintenance. The agreement also allows the County to terminate the agreement with or without cause at any time. If the agreement is terminated, Parkland Bay Homeowners Association, Inc. must remove all improvements within the licensed right-of-way and restore the area to its original condition.
The agreement has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney and the Risk Management Division.
