Summary Explanation/Background
CULTURAL DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This item supports the Board of County Commissioner’s (BOCC) value of cultivating community culture, arts, recreation, and life-long learning and goals relating to providing diverse artistic, cultural, educational, and historical amenities and programs that contribute to a vibrant, multi-cultural, and economically viable community.
Incentive recommendations are dependent on approval of the Fiscal Year 2021 budget.
As part of the Fiscal Year 2021 adopted operating budget, the BOCC shall approve individual awards for all incentive program categories, with the exception of the Creative Investment Program (CIP), the Creative Place Making Program (CPMP), and the Cultural Festival Program (CFP).
Pursuant to Section 29.17(e) of the Administrative Code, the Broward Cultural Council is authorized to approve CIP, CPMP, and CFP incentive awards, that comply with the Code and for which funds have been allocated and budgeted by the BOCC for these programs. For Fiscal Year 2021, there was no funding allocated for the CPMP due to budget constraints.
Exhibit 1 is a list of the Broward Cultural Council’s Fiscal Year 2021 recommended incentive awardees and the incentive awards.
