MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2020-519, the title of which is as follows:
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING A DONATION OF $30,000 FROM THE FLORIDA PANTHERS HOCKEY CLUB, LTD., TO BE USED AS ADDITIONAL AWARDS TO ENTREPRENEURS RECOMMENDED FOR FUNDING AS PART OF BROWARD COUNTY’S ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM COORDINATED BY THE OFFICE OF ECONOMIC AND SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT; AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR TO TAKE ALL ADMINISTRATIVE AND BUDGETARY ACTIONS REQUIRED TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE OFFICE OF ECONOMIC AND SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (“OESBD”) RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THIS ITEM.
The Florida Panthers Hockey Club, Ltd. (“Florida Panthers”), has generously offered to donate $30,000 to the County in order to assist the County in providing funding to successful graduates of the 2020 Fiscal Year Broward County Entrepreneurship Development Program coordinated by the Office of Economic and Small Business Development. This Resolution allows the Board of County Commissioners to accept the Florida Panthers’ generous donation and recognize this gesture of support and partnership of this organization with the County in creating and supporting economic opportunities in Broward County.
