Summary Explanation/Background

COUNTY ADMINISTRATION/REAL PROPERTY SECTION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The City of Fort Lauderdale provides water service to the Broward County Courthouse Judicial Complex located at 201 SE 6th Street in Fort Lauderdale and identified as Folio Number 5042-10-85-0010.

During the construction of the new Courthouse Tower complex, various utility easements were provided to the City and there is an existing vault and water meter previously permitted for this project. Said meter currently feeds the new Courthouse Tower and the Broward County Courthouse Jail.

At the request of the Facilities Management Division, the County needs the jail to have its own separate service meter. The project will require the installation of a new vault and meter that would be dedicated solely to the jail. Therefore, a request was submitted to the City of Fort Lauderdale, which agreed to accept a new utility easement. County will execute and record a separate utility easement for this location.

This easement is a standard document provided by the City of Fort Lauderdale to all entities needing easements in the City.

All documents have been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
