Summary Explanation/Background
REGIONAL EMERGENCY SERVICES AND COMMUNICATIONS, EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
Approval of this item permits the County Administrator to execute documents related to the Hurricane Dorian emergency response.
The response to Hurricane Dorian has required, and will likely continue to require, execution of agreements with various agencies, most significantly the State of Florida's Division of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These agreements can be time sensitive and failure to execute in a timely manner may preclude participation in programs or delay recovery efforts. Authorizing the County Administrator to execute such agreements reduces administrative delays associated with processing these agreements for execution by the Board.

Fiscal Impact
Fiscal Impact/Cost Summary
This agreement allows the County to be reimbursed for fiscal expenditures associated with the response to Hurricane Dorian. These expenses include emergency protective measures including but not limited to staffing and operation of the Emergency Operation Center and Emergency Distribution Center, securing of infrastructure and other county owned property, evacuation shelter operations and safety checks. These expenditures for such items was not included in the current Fiscal Year budget and so reimbursement from FEMA becomes necessary.
