Summary Explanation/Background

REGIONAL EMERGENCY SERVICES AND COMMUNICATIONS AND THE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTIONS.

 

In accordance with the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, as amended, 42 U.S.C. 5121 et seq, as authorized by Section 662 of the Post Katrina Emergency Management Reform Act, the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) funds may be used for all-hazards emergency management operations, staffing, and other planning, training, or coordination activities as specified in the EMPG Fiscal Year 2020 Scope of Work. Based on Fiscal Year 2019-2020 legislative appropriations, Broward County's Federal EMPG award this Fiscal Year is $365,205. The award must be expended by June 30, 2021. This sub-grant agreement requires a dollar-for-dollar non-Federal match. The grant funding will be utilized to support five existing positions within the Emergency Management Division.
