Summary Explanation/Background
At-Large board appointments are made available to County Commissioners according to the At-Large Board Rotation Procedures approved by the Broward County Commission.
The Intergovernmental Affairs/Boards Section maintains a comprehensive list of at-large advisory board positions. The list of available at-large board positions is provided to each Commissioner in a specific rotation order. The at-large rotation order was determined by a draw held at the June 5, 2001 County Commission meeting. During each Commissioner's turn, he or she may nominate an individual to one board. The board position will then be deleted from the rotation list and any positions that become available will be added. The rotation list is sent to the next Commissioner on the rotation. After an unfilled board position has completed a full rotation (available to each Commissioner), the board position is removed from the rotation list and added to the list of "At-large board positions available to all Commissioners," thereby allowing any Commissioner to nominate one or more individuals to the board position.
