Why Action is Necessary

Board of County Commissioners' approval is required to convey and accept an interest in real property pursuant to Florida Statutes, Section 125.37 and Broward County Administrative Code, Section 6.23.

 

What Action Accomplishes

Provides the County contiguous parcels of land for a future affordable housing project in exchange for a nearby parcel of property.

Summary Explanation/Background

COUNTY ADMINISTRATION/REAL PROPERTY SECTION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

 

If approved, this item will allow for a land exchange between the County and landowner in the Broward Municipal Services District that will create eight contiguous lots for the County to develop affordable housing.  By doing so, it will also create four contiguous lots for landowner.  To do this, the County and landowner have each agreed to swap a lot similar in nature and size.  No additional value is required by either party.  This exchange will be beneficial to both parties to maximize the development potential of the respective holdings.

 

The County owned property is located at approximately 333 NW 27th Avenue in Broward Municipal Services District and is adjacent to Ms. Merricks’ property (refer to Exhibit 4 for a map showing the location of the properties).

 

All documents have been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
