Why Action is Necessary

Board of County Commissioners’ approval is required to adopt resolutions regarding the disposition of County property pursuant to Broward County Administrative Code, Section 6.23 of the Broward County Administrative Code.

Dedicates those parcels of land for public purposes and uses in accordance with Florida Statute, Section 197.592 (3).

Summary Explanation/Background

COUNTY ADMINISTRATION/REAL PROPERTY SECTION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

 

These parcels of land escheated to Broward County for non-payment of taxes. Title was conveyed to the County via a tax deed pursuant to Florida Statutes, Section 197.502 (8) since there were no bidders at public sale and the former owners of these parcels did not file verified applications seeking a return of their property resulting in a tax deed.

 

Land acquired by the County for delinquent taxes and located within a municipality may be dedicated by the Board of County Commissioners for County use pursuant to Florida Statutes, Section 197.592.  All applicable County agencies were solicited for potential County use of these properties or rights therein, and one or more agency expressed a need to retain these parcels in County ownership.

 

Parcel 1 - Folio Number 4842-14-00-0010 is a vacant parcel located at 202 NW 46th Court, west of Interstate 95 in Deerfield Beach. This parcel measures approximately 9,608 square feet and it is not suitable for development or building. Title was conveyed to the County via Tax Deed 11985, recorded in Broward County Official Records Book 21215, Page 0325. This parcel will be retained for maintenance, repair and replacement of County water and sewer lines presently on site.

 

Parcel 2 - Folio Number 4842-23-00-0153 consists of two parcels within one folio number located south of West Sample Road on NW 8th Avenue in Pompano Beach. These parcels combined measures approximately 7,400 square feet and it is not suitable for development or building. Title was conveyed to the County via Tax Deed 25963, recorded in Broward County Official Records Book 51240, Page 0466. These parcels will be retained for maintenance, repair and replacement of County water and sewer lines presently on site.

 

Parcel 3 - Folio Number 5041-16-01-0011 is a parcel is located east of South Pine Island Road (SW 88th Avenue) and south of Berkley Drive in the Town of Davie. The parcel measures approximately 2,423 square feet and it is not suitable for development or building. Title was conveyed to the County via Tax Deed 12104, recorded in Broward County Official Records Book 21570, Page 0190. This parcel will be retained for maintenance, repair and replacement of roadway infrastructure installed on the site.

 

All documents have been reviewed and approved by the Office of the County Attorney.
