Why Action is Necessary
In accordance with the Broward County Procurement Code, Section 21.43, Specific Period, a contract for supplies or services may be entered into for no more than five years without the express consent of the Board. Therefore, Board of County Commissioners' approval is required for this amendment in accordance with the provisions of the Broward County Procurement Code.

What Action Accomplishes
Allows for continued security guard services to be provided at various Broward County facilities while the new solicitation is in process.

THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

On March 8, 2016 (Item No. 16), the Board of County Commissioners awarded open-end Contract No. R1326208P1X_1 to Westmoreland Protection Agency, Inc., for an initial three year term in the amount of $9,784,431, and authorized the Director of Purchasing to renew the Agreement for two one-year periods for a total five-year not-to-exceed amount of $17,938,124, which includes $1,630,739 in optional services.
