Why Action is Necessary
Florida Statutes 932.7055(5)(a) requires that proceeds from the disposition of liens and forfeited property obtained from criminal procedure and corrections be deposited in a special law enforcement trust fund to be used for law enforcement purposes. Recommendation of the Sheriff and Board approval are required to appropriate LETF funds.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Broward Sheriff’s Office supports this LETF request for the Sheriff’s Award Program. The project is in recognition of the employees that are retiring from the Broward Sheriff’s Office with 25 years or more of service. This includes sworn and civilian personnel. The project will also recognize command level employees for their meritorious service.

This action will utilize $50,000 in unrestricted federal funds.
