Summary Explanation/Background
This agenda item supports the Board Value, "Encouraging investments in renewable energy, sustainable practices and environmental protection," and the Board Goal, "Increase water quality protection efforts and lead creative approaches to water storage and aquifer recharge, as well as diversification of water suppliers, regionally."

The County Coalition for Responsible Management of Lake Okeechobee, the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee Estuaries, and Lake Worth Lagoon ("Coalition") was formed in 2000 to address health and welfare of the lakes, estuaries, and riverine systems consisting of Lake Okeechobee, the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee Estuaries, and Lake Worth Lagoon, and all of the bodies of water connected thereto. The Coalition currently includes representatives of Glades, Hendry, Highlands, Lee, Martin, Okeechobee, Osceola, Palm Beach, St. Lucie, Charlotte, and Collier counties.
