Summary Explanation/Background
This agenda item supports the Board's goal of increased economic strength and impact of revenue-generating County enterprises balancing economic, environmental, and community needs.
During the design stage of the Convention Center Expansion and Headquarters Hotel project (Project), it was determined that the new public plaza to the east of the hotel and northeast of the convention center would be aesthetically enhanced by placing FPL's overhead poles and electrical lines that run along the north end of the Project site (parallel and adjacent to the 17th Street Causeway) underground. The project team has since been working with FPL to move their infrastructure underground.
Planning work has concluded and FPL has provided the County with FPL's standard form documents required to move the project forward (Exhibit 2).
