Summary Explanation/Background

THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

This action approves an FDOT Public Transportation Grant Agreement ("PTGA") to provide grant funding in the amount of $3,750,000, to assist in the Taxilane ADG III project at FLL. The total cost of the Project is estimated to be $7,500,000. Broward County (“County”) will fund in excess of the amount of FDOT’s current grant funding, currently estimated to be $3,750,000.

The proposed Taxilane ADG III will be located on the west side of FLL and will extend 4,000 feet in length in the east-west direction. Overall, the Taxilane ADG III will measure 90 feet in width, which includes a 50-foot wide taxilane with 20-foot shoulders on each side. The taxilane project will be implemented on a phased approach. FDOT grant funds will cover design and construction costs for Phase 1 of the project and will assist in the construction of approximately 2,700 feet of the taxilane. The improvements associated with the Taxilane ADG III project will reduce potential airfield congestion associated with general aviation activity and operational demand on the west side of FLL.

The proposed PTGA was reviewed by the Office of the County Attorney. The PTGA does not include the County's standard Agreement provisions as FDOT requires the County to use its form Agreement.
