Summary Explanation/Background
THE BROWARD COUNTY LIBRARIES DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THIS ITEM.

This item supports the Board's Goal to "Enhance funding for Library programs and various lifelong learning opportunities for our residents and visitors." The Florida Department of State and the Broward County entered into a grant agreement for the implementation of a Library Services and Technology Act grant for Career Online High School, approved by the Board on January 12, 2021 (Item No. 30). The scope of work for this project includes scholarships for 38 eligible adults to earn a high school diploma. It also includes wrap around services such as guidance of professional librarians and literacy staff, free computer access, Internet and digital literacy classes, job search and resume writing workshops, and referrals to community organizations.
