Why Action is Necessary
Florida Statutes 932.7055(5)(a) requires that proceeds from the disposition of liens and forfeited property obtained from a criminal procedure and corrections be deposited in a special law enforcement trust fund to be used for law enforcement purposes. Recommendation of the Sheriff and Board approval are required to appropriate LETF funds.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Broward Sheriff's Office supports this LETF request for the lease/purchase of P25 Motorola radios. The funds are to be used as partial payment towards the second installment of the lease/purchase of P25 radios and related equipment pursuant to BSO's lease/purchase agreement with Motorola, and represents the Cooper City portion of the payment, less interest. The LETF funds were part of an award resulting from a seizure that occurred in Cooper City and represent a portion of the City's award.
