Summary Explanation/Background
THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action extends the term of the License between County and L3Harris through September 30, 2025, and replaces Exhibit A-1 to reflect the current square footage of occupancy in the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting station.
On December 6, 2016 (Item No. 6), the Board approved the License between the County and Harris Corporation to occupy space at FLL, which was retroactive to September 1, 2016, for the installation, operation and maintenance of the two radio station sites that supports the ADS-B system at FLL. The primary purpose of the ADS-B system is to prevent aircraft accidents from runway incursions (aircraft taxiing into the path of arriving or departing aircraft).
On June 28, 2019, Harris Corporation changed its name to L3Harris Technologies, Inc.
The License provides for the use of a total of 245 square feet of FLL property. The annual license fee is set and adjusted annually according to Type 2 Space rates pursuant to Chapter 39 of the Broward County Administrative Code.
The proposed First Amendment has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
