Summary Explanation/Background
THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
Section 2-3 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances (“Code”) requires the Broward County Board of County Commissioners to establish, through the adoption of a resolution, the rates, fees, and charges for the services and facilities provided at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (“Airport”).
Section 39.2(e) of the Broward County Administrative Code (“Administrative Code”) currently provides a charge for failure to notify the Airport in the event of a termination or separation of an employee and/or failure to return the Airport Issued Identification Media to the Airport. The proposed Resolution removes this provision because the applicable requirements and charges are provided elsewhere in the Code.
Section 39.2(n) of the Administrative Code currently lists charges for lost keys, padlocks, and key cores. Electronic keys and padlocks are not addressed in Section 39.2(n) of the Administrative Code, but their use is now prevalent at the Airport. In addition to being lost, electronic keys and padlocks can also be damaged. The proposed Resolution amends Section 39.2(n) of the Administrative Code to include a fee for lost or damaged electronic keys, padlocks, and key cores, and imposes the same fee for both lost and damaged items.
