Why Action is Necessary
Florida Statutes 932.7055(5)(a) requires that proceeds from the disposition of liens and forfeited property obtained from criminal procedure and corrections be deposited in a special law enforcement trust fund to be used for law enforcement purposes. Recommendation of the Sheriff and Board approval are required to appropriate LETF funds.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Broward Sheriff’s Office supports this LETF request for BSO Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) dispatch consoles. The dispatch consoles in the SEOC are obsolete and inoperable due to the changeover to the P25 Motorola Radio System. In order for the SEOC to maintain radio communications with the field, the two existing consoles must be replaced with current model consoles.

Funds are available within the Law Enforcement Trust Fund for this action. According to BSO, the current balance of the LETF, as of April 20, 2021, is $1,592,423 in the local account ($1,138,738 of which is unrestricted) and $4,260,827 in the federal account ($2,337,000 of which is unrestricted). This action will utilize $416,420 in unrestricted federal funds.
