Summary Explanation/Background
The Paging system is utilized to provide alphanumeric paging as a method of delivering detailed 911 dispatch related information to first responders throughout Broward County. Continued operation of this system is necessary to ensure timely and reliable 911 dispatch related information via alphanumeric pagers until build out of the system is completed.
The contract with SONIK Messaging Systems, Inc. for the alphanumeric paging system was executed in 2016 by the Director of Purchasing. The Director of Purchasing’s authority is limited to 5-years. The amendment will allow for up to five 1-year options for continued support and maintenance services, with an associated total increase in support and maintenance not-to-exceed amounts of $425,000. The increase in support and maintenance services accounts for price increases from the vendor, and the additional period of performance.
The amendment also includes a separate spending limit increase of $125,000 for optional services. The increase will allow migration of the paging system from the County’s old microwave system (which is planned to be decommissioned) to the infrastructure of the new P25 system.
Upon approval, the Second Amendment will be effective retroactively to May 6, 2021.
