Why Action is Necessary
Chapter 2, Section 2-40(a) of the Broward County Code of Ordinances requires that the Broward County Board of County Commissioners ("Board") authorize any commercial activities or the occupation of space at Broward County's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport ("FLL").

Approves the Terminal Building Lease Agreement ("TBLA") between Broward County (“County”) and Bellsouth Telecommunications, LLC, ("Bellsouth") to lease space throughout the airport campus, in accordance with the provisions of the TBLA, which establishes the payment of rent for the leased space at FLL.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action approves the TBLA between the County and Bellsouth to lease space at the airport in accordance with the provisions of the TBLA, which establishes the payment of rent for the leased space at FLL.
The proposed TBLA will allow Bellsouth to lease 1220.75 square feet of space throughout the airport, for the purpose of installing, operating, and maintaining telecommunications equipment, including all activities reasonably necessary for such use.
Bellsouth has posted a security deposit in the amount of $82,774, which represents three months of rental payments during the first year of the lease. The term of this Agreement shall commence on June 1, 2021, and terminate on May 31, 2026.
Bellsouth shall pay the rental rates established in Section 39.2 of the Broward County Administrative Code and rent will be automatically adjusted upon any amendment of the rates established therein.
The proposed TBLA (Exhibit 1) has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney. At the time of submission, the Broward County Aviation Department had not received the executed TBLA from Bellsouth. Signature pages will be submitted to the Board prior to its approval of this action.

The estimated monthly rent for Fiscal Year 2021 is $25,907, plus applicable taxes, and will be adjusted annually according to Chapter 39 of the Broward County Administrative Code.
