A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO THE BROWARD CULTURAL COUNCIL; AMENDING SECTIONS 12.9 THROUGH 12.12, REPEALING AND REPLACING SECTION 12.13, AND REPEALING SECTIONS 12.14 THROUGH 12.16 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE CODE ("ADMINISTRATIVE CODE"); AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background
This item supports the Broward County Board of County Commissioners' Value of cultivating community culture, arts, recreation, and lifelong learning and Goals relating to providing diverse artistic, cultural, educational, and historical amenities and programs that contribute to a vibrant, multicultural, and economically viable community.
The proposed amendments are requested by the Cultural Division to remove obsolete provisions, to establish the term and requirements for reappointment and removal of members of the Broward Cultural Council (the "Council"), and to ensure consistency between these sections of the Administrative Code and the new cultural grant programs recently adopted by the Board. The proposed changes include a requirement that Council members be replaced or renominated and reappointed to the Council every six years.
