Summary Explanation/Background
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/HIGHWAY AND BRIDGE MAINTENANCE DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

Broward County Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division works in close coordination with the Florida Department of Health in all of Broward County's mosquito control activities. The Florida Department of Health has made funding available to supplement the cost of local mosquito control efforts in response to the threat of mosquito-borne diseases. The Florida Department of Health recently notified the County that they will provide Broward County with funding to supplement the cost of chemicals and supplies for mosquito control activities in the amount of $90,000 which must be expended by June 30, 2021. Approval of the budget Resolution will allow County staff to utilize the funding for mosquito control efforts prior to June 30, 2021.
