Summary Explanation/Background

THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

This action supports the Commission’s value of “approaching human services collaboratively and compassionately, with special emphasis on the most vulnerable” and the goal to “effectively advocate for and acquire municipal, state and federal financial support to equitably address health and human services needs of the entire community, through a truly coordinated system of care.” The services improve the financial and business skills of Broward County youth.

Retroactive approval is requested due to the delay in the County’s receipt of the needed information for the Amendment.

On December 03, 2019 (Item No. 7), the Commission approved the Second Amendment to the Agreement between Broward County and JA for fiscal year 2020. The Second Amendment provided funding, updated the scope of services, and revised Agreement Exhibits C-2, C-3, C-4, and D. All programmatic outcomes were met for fiscal year 2020.

On August 25, 2020 (Item No. 4), the Commission approved the renewal of the JA Agreement for fiscal year 2021. On August 26, 2020, Broward County provided JA formal notice via email of its intent to execute the third renewal term. The current agenda updates the Agreement scope of services and revises Agreement Exhibits C-1, C-2, C-3, C-4, and D.
