Summary Explanation/Background
In February 2018, the City of Tamarac identified repairs needed to the drainage system serving the Boulevards Community located just north of Prospect Road and west of Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. This drainage system served the drainage needs of the area and is also part of a regional recharge system which allows water to flow from the west to the east in order to recharge groundwater near the City of Fort Lauderdale's Prospect Wellfield. Tamarac staff reached out to County staff about the possibility for funding a share of the improvement costs. County staff supported the request and indicated that they would work to bring an interlocal agreement (Exhibit 1) to the Board of County Commissioners for approval.

Tamarac proceeded to construct the necessary improvements prior to the County Commission's approval at a cost of $1,863,197. The City had requested a 50% share of the costs, but after reviewing the impact to the Regional Recharge System, County staff offered a payment of $500,000, which the City accepted.
